Can you see the volcano and the tower from where you are? The turbolift is close to those.

A few pages before this someone mentions flying around to carry people back to the lift. Maybe they'll take your things, too.

No. The Wilderness seldom is. If something comes at you that you can do so, I say try to outrun it.
