Excuse me, can anyone tell me if they can read this? A quick note will be fine. There's no reason something I write down in my journal with normal ink and paper should show up in someone else's. I'm pretty sure it's scientifically impossible.

But I'm also sure that human beings don't normally hatch from giant cocoons, and if they did, they would hatch as babies. Except I did, and my brother River did, and Cara said everyone here does, so maybe 'impossible' is just something we haven't figured out the reason for yet.

So please let me know if you can read this! I don't think she was lying to me, but she might be misinformed, and anyway it's not good to just take someone's word for it when I can test the hypothesis myself.

Oh, my name is Rosalind.

Not science exclusively. Anything about the workings of Edensphere itself.

I've only been here a day, so I don't think I know that much. I just like science.

Thanks, though. I'll try not to die.

Liking science is a hell of a lot better than what some of the people here believe in. Science makes sense.

Alchemy.

[he taps the pen a few times]

Look. If you find any books on biology or chemistry, they're mine. The bookstore recently got bombed and my books were stolen right before that.

That's really inconvenient. How are people supposed to find things to read now? Books are important.
From: [identity profile] ittybityprodigy.livejournal.com
Hell if I know.

I haven't heard of a library. You'd think a huge city would have one.

Obviously

Maybe you could find some books and start one.

I wouldn't bet on it. You know people usually go for stuff they're familiar with for their jobs.

But if they can't remember, they wouldn't know what's familiar.

True.

[watch as he attempts to explain pinging scientifically!]

Think of it like riding a bike. You never forget it completely.
